How we Operate

We base our activities in three main guiding principles

Information // Advocacy // local initiatives

Information: Offering the community stakeholders and rentals easy information on adopting sustainable practices. This includes useful links to further research, resources and local allies who can help support the transition to greater sustainability for the region as a whole. We are already a very conscious community, and yet there is room for improvement!

Advocacy: If you care about something in Careyes, the chance is that someone else does too. We would love to help coordinate and engage those who are interested in any of the topic areas we have selected, along with fresh ideas (this is encouraged!). This advocacy allows us to speak with unified voices on things that matter to us, and leads us to the third principle…

Local Initiatives: We believe in the importance of everyone taking the initiative on what matters the most to them, and in collaborating in a decentralised and transparent manner. This could be, for example, a home-owner who is passionate about ocean plastics and decides to create an educational program within the community to help increase collective sense-making and coordination. They will ask who else is interested, be the touch point for the project, and people can join/rally at will.

Collaboration & coordination

If you decide to be involved and spearhead an initiative it is expected that you become a ‘leader’ and point of contact for this vertical. We can help you to host virtual and physical meetings for your group, and every few months will send out an invitation for all groups to come together, share their learnings, challenges and growth areas.

The idea is to work like a human body - self governance and autonomy a cellular level, embedded within larger organs that coordinate to allow the healthy flow of nutrients and energy. Together we work towards the same shared goal - to help sustain the thriving body of Careyes as a whole.

We want to highlight another organisation that has a successful and ongoing track record in the area, whom we consider to be allies. The Careyes Foundation catalyzes innovative programs in education, sports, ecology, and the arts to improve the well-being of local communities along the South Pacific coast of Mexico.

Feedback

We feel it is vitally important to coordinate and gather for the things we care about. Having a platform and a shared engagement tool seems like a good place to start.

We encourage anyone and everyone to participate in this process.

Thank you.
